TITLE

Secondary Paraprofessional

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of two years of college or 32 college credits or ability to pass the ETS Para Pro Exam to become highly qualified.
  • Knowledge and skill in the teaching and use of math and reading including the ability to pronounce vowels, consonants, phrases, and words in a phonetically correct manner.
  • Ability to administer standardized and other diagnostic tests.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
  • Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.
  • Computer knowledge and experience with word processing, e‑mail, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Reports to: Building Administrator

JOB GOALS

To provide the necessary leadership, educational activities, and social skills for each assigned child so that he/she will become more proficient in English.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works with teachers to determine the educational needs of each student.
  • Works with small groups of students and with individual students in all subject areas.
  • Maintains student files as requested and required by the needs of federal, state and local guidelines to track student progress.
  • Assists the teacher in gathering a variety of data that is needed for reporting to state and/or federal agencies.
  • Attends in‑service classes, building meetings, monthly program meetings and district meetings as requested.
  • Prepares tutoring area for instructional activities and constructs learning materials.
  • Ability to operate office equipment (copy machines, computers, scanners, etc.).
  • Communicates with parents and families as directed.
  • Maintains accurate records to assist in compiling data for a variety of reports required by state and federal agencies.
  • Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Has regular and predictable attendance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a part‑time position.

This position shall be considered in all respects “employment at will.” The “employment period” and other descriptions and terms set forth in this job description shall not create a property right for the employee. EVALUATION

Performance of this position will be evaluated by the Building Administrator.
