Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators in Elgin, IL is seeking a qualified administrator to manage and supervise the school food service program in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.

You will work with secondary managers and a registered dietician on menus, program innovation, and promotions, while coordinating with Human Resources for hiring and onboarding. Strong leadership and organization are essential for student nutrition success.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or GED with valid food manager certification before term starts.
  • Must obtain and maintain School Nutrition Association certification level 1 or higher within first year.
  • Experience and knowledge in school nutrition, inventory methods, policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee school food service program in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Enforce USDA professional standards and maintain accurate training records.
  • Lead secondary school managers and coordinate with dieticians on menus and promotions.
  • Coordinate with Food Safety Coordinator to ensure 100% compliance with HACCP policies.

  • Manageandsupervisetheschoolfoodserviceprograminaccordancewithfederal,state,andlocal requirements.
  • MaintaincurrentknowledgeandenforceallFederal,State,andLocalrequirementsasitpertainstothe Dietary Guidelines for School Nutrition Programs.
  • AdheretopolicyonUSDAprofessionalstandardsandmaintainaccuratetrainingrecordsforassigned staff, ensuring full compliance.
  • Overseesupervisionofsecondaryschoolsandmanagers assigned.
  • CohesivelyworkwithSecondaryManagersandRegisteredDieticianonmenus,programinnovation, and marketing promotions.
  • CollaboratewithelementaryfieldmanagersandFood&NutritionServicesofficestaff.
  • ParticipateinsitevisitstoensurecompliancewithUSDA,ISBE,anddepartmentguidelines.
  • CoordinateeffortswithFoodSafetyCoordinatoronallHACCPpoliciesandprocedures,ensuringthat the commissary and elementary schools are in 100% compliance with policies/procedures.
  • SupporttheFood&NutritionServicesAdministratorsonallSEIUmatters,includingperformance evaluations, grievances, training, interviewing, and adhering to policies set forth in the district's employee handbook and SEIU contract.
  • Facilitatemarketingandpromotionaleventstoincreaseparticipation.
  • Abilitytomanageday-to-dayoperationsatmultiple sites.
  • Provideoversightanddailysupervisionforsummerprogramming.
  • CollaboratewithHumanResourcesforhiringandonboardingofapplicants.
  • Establishandmaintainpositiveworkingrelationshipswithbuildingadministrators.
  • Activelyparticipateinmonthlymanagerorleadershipmeetings,webinars,andvideoconferencesand provide ongoing professional development for staff.
  • Collaboratewithsecondaryschoolmanagersonmonthlyoperatingreports,inventorymanagement, and financial goals.
  • Establish and implement annual secondary school manager goals and performance reviews. Provide coachingandleadershipasneededwithappropriatedocumentationandadheringtoUnionandDistrict guidelines.
  • Maintainconfidentialityonallsensitivematters.

Qualifications
  • HighSchoolDiplomaorGEDrequired.
  • Must possess a valid Certified Professional Food Manager Certification, previously known as a sanitationcertificate.Certificateshallbeobtainedbythestartofthesecondschooltermofemployment.
  • Earnand/ormaintainSchoolNutritionAssociationcertificationlevel1orhigherwithinthefirstyearof employment.
Salary/Benefits
  • Thisisatwelve(12)monthfull-timeposition.SalaryandbenefitsasestablishedbytheBoardof Education.
  • MustcompleteallFoodServiceandDistrict-mandatedGCNtutorials,monthlysafetytraining,and department-sponsored training per USDA requirements by their due dates.
  • Attendallmeetingsandtrainingsasrequired.
  • The full salary range for this position is $45,257.00 - $67,340.00. Our typical practice is to hire in between the minimum and midpoint ($51,417.60)
