American Wood Fibers, Inc. is seeking a Second Shift Supervisor for the Jessup, MD facility. The role oversees plant operations, packaging, and warehouse activities, ensuring SOPs are followed and customer needs are met.

The candidate will manage staff, coordinate with supervisors, and supervise truck loading, inventory, and payroll time records. In-person, Mon-Thu 3:00PM–1:30AM; compensation $20.00–$25.00 per hour with standard benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing, general labor, or packaging goods.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the plant meets customer needs and demands.
• Staffing is adequate and assigned tasks are correct.
• Follow SOPs so products are produced, packaged, and shipped as needed.
• Ensure PPE and safety procedures are used.
• Direct plant workforce in operations, packaging, and warehouse.
• Communicate with peers and management to ensure tasks are completed.
• Supervise loading/unloading of trucks and paperwork.
• Verify incoming shipments with daily inventory counts.

Second Shift Supervisor

American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 450+ employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the Second Shift Supervisor role in our Jessup, MD facility.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

PLANT OPERATION

• Ensure that the plant is meeting the needs and demands of the customers
• Ensure that the staffing is adequate and working on the proper task
• Ensure that the SOP’s are followed and products are produced, packaged, and shipped as needed
• Ensure that all plant personnel are properly following all procedures, including the use of any required PPE/safety-related device
• Direct the workforce in the plant (system operation), packaging, and warehouse
• Confer with other supervisors and communicate with peers, subordinates, and management in a professional manner to assure assignments are being properly completed
• Supervise loading and unloading of trucks and completion of paperwork
• Verify incoming shipments – completing a daily inventory count and production report

ADMINISTRATION

• Ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately in a timely manner
• Support the monthly inventory cycle as directed
• Ensure that any discipline need is discussed with the Plant Manager
• Implement new policies as needed
• Verify accuracy of time detail for payroll and monitor attendance

SAFETY

• Help ensure the safety of all plant personnel
• Implement new policies and procedures to improve the safety and condition of the plant
• Ensures that all employees are provided the proper PPE and utilize it as required
• Supports the plant with cleanup plans, assessments, and audits
• Supports the implementation of new systems to maintain and improve upon the safety culture of the plant

OTHER DUTIES

• Develop key initiatives that reduce costs and improve the operation
• Work shifts and times as needed to meet customer demands (including OT)

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED
