Job summary

MAU Workforce Solutions, on behalf of our client in Savannah, GA, is seeking a Second Shift Maintenance Technician to test, diagnose, maintain, repair, and modify electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems supporting manufacturing equipment and minimizing downtime.

This direct-hire role requires PLC knowledge, blueprints interpretation, and strong troubleshooting skills to keep production running smoothly on the second shift.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance.
  • Experience performing electrical installation and maintenance on plant electrical systems and equipment.
  • Experience performing mechanical installation and maintenance on plant systems and equipment.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect equipment and verify proper operating condition.
  • Record test readings and maintain/repair components.
  • Troubleshoot machine networking issues.
  • Collaborate with engineers and outside contractors during troubleshooting.

MAU is hiring a Second Shift Maintenance Technician for our client in Savannah, GA. As a Second Shift Maintenance Technician, you will test, diagnose, maintain, repair, and modify electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems to support manufacturing equipment and minimize production downtime. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Required Education and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the electrical and/or mechanical maintenance field.
  • Experience performing electrical installation and maintenance on plant electrical systems and equipment.
  • Experience performing mechanical installation and maintenance on plant systems and equipment.
  • Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Degree in a related technical field
General Requirements
  • Broad knowledge of industrial controls and mechanisms.
  • Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with remote I/O design and operation.
  • Experience with robot programming and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with AC/DC drive motor operation, adjustment, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with machine networking processes.
  • Understanding of CNC machining programming and operation.
  • Ability to read blueprints, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, mechanical and electrical diagrams, and technical orders.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong sense of urgency when troubleshooting equipment to restore production.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project coordination and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, critical thinking, and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry tools and software through training, workshops, conferences, or independent study.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while accepting responsibility and completing assigned tasks.
  • Willingness to travel within the state for training, if required.
  • Ability to work extended hours, overtime, and weekends as needed.
  • Strict adherence to lockout/tagout procedures.
Essential Functions
  • Inspect equipment to verify proper operating condition and make necessary adjustments.
  • Record test readings and maintain, repair, or replace equipment components.
  • Troubleshoot machine networking issues.
  • Work with outside contractors during troubleshooting activities.
  • Support CNC machining programming and machine operation.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, mechanical and electrical diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Align, fit, and assemble component parts using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and templates.
  • Operate metalworking equipment to fabricate housings, jigs, fittings, and fixtures.
  • Repair, rework, and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies and systems to required specifications and tolerances.
  • Prepare part sketches and complete work orders.
  • Review project instructions and specifications to identify fabrication, assembly, modification, and testing requirements.
  • Fabricate and assemble new or modified mechanical components for industrial machinery, equipment, and measuring instruments.
  • Analyze test results and adjust equipment to meet design specifications and operational objectives.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical support.
  • Research, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical equipment, systems, and processes using engineering principles.
  • Investigate equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Oversee equipment installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Conduct research and testing to evaluate equipment design, operation, feasibility, and performance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and equipment calibration.
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and coordinate with manufacturers and field representatives to obtain replacement parts when necessary.
  • Maintain system logs, records, and manuals documenting equipment testing and operation.
  • Follow all lockout/tagout safety procedures.
Working Conditions
  • Work primarily in warehouse, manufacturing, and indoor office environments.
  • Occasionally work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
Physical Demands
  • Walk and stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Frequently bend, crouch, stoop, lean, climb, and sit.
  • Regularly use hands to handle equipment, tools, and paperwork.
  • Reach at chest level and above shoulder height.
  • Use close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and depth of focus to read equipment displays, computer screens, labels, and color‑coded materials.
  • Regularly communicate verbally and hear effectively.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including eye, face, head, foot, hearing, hand, and arm protection, as required.
