Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 3–5 years experience operating HDD equipment in underground utility or pipeline work.
• Experience in the natural gas sector preferred.
• Certifications in HDD operation and safety are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate HDD Drills (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch) to drill and install underground gas lines.
• Place, remove or maintain underground utilities and carry heavy materials as required.
• Participate in manual labor tasks on project sites.
• Secure sites and equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with protocols.
• Wear PPE appropriately and report safety incidents to Foreman.
• Execute deliverables per customer specs and contract requirements.
• Ensure work complies with installation standards and safety practices.
• Promote team safety and optimize construction procedures.
• Prepare sites for optimal workflow and efficiency.

Essential Functions

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Operate HDD Drills (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch) to drill and install underground gas lines.


• Place, remove or maintain underground utilities as directed. This includes but is not limited to carrying pipe, bags of material and other heavy items, jack hammering, shoveling, tamping and installing pipe, duct or cable.


• Participate in manual labor tasks as required on project.


• Secure work sites, equipment, and materials at the end of each shift to ensure public safety and safety of equipment and materials. Ensure that all work being done is in compliance with the company’s safety protocols.


• Understands when to wear personnel protective equipment.


• Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the Foreman or Supervisor.


• Execute job deliverables according to customer specifications and contract requirements.


• Ensure all project work is compliant with installation standards and is being performed safely and correctly.


• Promote and monitor the safety of team members.


• Prepare sites to ensure maximum optimization of construction work procedures.

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.


• Three to five years of experience operating HDD equipment in underground utility or pipeline construction.


• Previous experience in the natural gas industry is highly preferred.


• Certifications in HDD Operation, safety training, and utility locating is highly desirable.
