Job summary

LifeCenter Northwest is seeking an Organ Donation Coordinator (ODC) to evaluate donor referrals, conduct medical evaluation, and plan with healthcare teams to preserve donation options. The role supports UDRAI, ME/Coroner communications, and organ recovery activities under SOPs and regulatory standards.

The ODC collaborates with DFA and ORC, mentors family conversations, and may assist in the OR with perfusion and labeling of recovered organs.

Qualifications

  • Advanced EMT, Paramedic, Certified/Registered Respiratory Therapist with BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and access to an insured automobile or ability to arrive at work-related functions.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or applicable exemption required after offer.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate organ donor referrals and assess donor suitability.
  • Coordinate with healthcare teams for donor management and UDRAI interviews.
  • Support in the operating room with organ perfusion, labeling, and recovery processes.
  • Communicate with Medical Examiner/Coroner and Donation and Family Advocates as needed.
  • Respond to ventilated referrals and maintain regulatory documentation.

Job description

The listed job location of Bellevue, WA reflects the location of our headquarters.

The primary working location for this role will be Seattle, WA.

The Organ Donation Coordinator (ODC) supports the mission, goals, and strategic plan of LifeCenter Northwest by evaluating organ donor referrals, conducting medical evaluation on potential organ donors, and developing a plan with the healthcare team to maintain the option of donation. The ODC supports the Organ Recovery Coordinators with organ donor cases, with oversight facilitates donation after circulatory arrest donation (DCD) process, communicates and documents Medical Examiner or Coroner conversations and release for donation. The ODC works closely with the Donation and Family Advocates (DFA) and ORC with compassionate family conversations and conducts Uniform Donor Risk Assessment Interview (UDRAI) with potential donor families. The ODC also supports in the operating room by performing organ perfusion and packaging and labeling of recovered organs. All these above actions are done pursuant to LifeCenter Northwest standard operating procedures (SOPs), CMS regulations, UNOS policy, and AOPO standards.

Education, Experience & Job Requirements
  • Advanced EMT, Paramedic, Certified/Registered Respiratory Therapy with BLS and ACLS certifications, or similar background/certifications and/or OPO experience.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and access to an insured automobile or the ability to arrive and depart from work- and work-related functions at expected times.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or applicable medical or religious exemption will be required as a condition of employment upon offer.

PAY RANGE
  • ODC I: $80,168.40 - $110,112.00
  • ODC II: $83,918.00 - $121,715.00

This position is eligible for additional compensation to the base pay rate, in the form of Extra Call Pay, Extra Call Worked, Overnight Differential, and Holiday Stipend Pay. Additionally, this position may be eligible for a preceptor bonus.
