Job summary

The University of Washington is seeking a Director of Instructional Services in the Department of Chemistry on the Seattle campus. This on-site role provides strategic and operational leadership for undergraduate instructional services, overseeing lecture and laboratory delivery, scheduling, staffing, accommodations, and budgets to ensure high-quality student experiences.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in chemistry or a closely related field and two years of higher education instructional program management experience.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, organize, and evaluate staff or instructional support personnel.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and apply FERPA policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead operations for undergraduate instructional program including lecture and laboratory support and course scheduling.
• Coordinate curriculum administration and support the Undergraduate Education Committee and TA allocations.
• Plan Summer Quarter instruction and oversee events, awards, and graduation activities.
• Directly supervise 3 FTE staff and recruit/assign supplementary TAs and readers.
• Coordinate TA orientation, onboarding, and schedule changes with faculty, staff, and graduate students.
• Coordinate with Disability Resources to arrange accommodations and ensure course access and exam logistics.
• Analyze instructional data and report findings; communicate matters to faculty, staff, and leadership.
