Job summary

Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus seeks two assistant coaches to support the varsity boys basketball program for the 2026-2027 school year. The positions are temporary and seasonal, with the season running from November through February.

Responsibilities include coaching, instructing students, and supporting team development in alignment with KS values. The role requires a high school diploma, coaching experience, and NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certification.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of 1 year experience in coaching.
NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to relate effectively with students, coaches, KS staff, physicians, parents and administrators.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities.
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates thorough knowledge of sport including rules, skills, tactics and techniques.
Translates sports knowledge to athletes and develops athlete and team performance.
Teaches individual and team skills to athletes.
Organizes and supervises safe and well-planned practices and games.
Prepares team for games and meets.
Communicates effectively with athletes, parents, faculty, administrators, other coaches, and the community.
Promotes sportsmanship and respect for rules and officials.
