Job summary

R.D Offutt Farms is seeking seasonal truck drivers to haul product from designated farm bins to customers. The role requires a valid driver’s license, ability to load/unload, and adherence to safety, pre/post-trip inspections, and logbook requirements while working outdoors in harvest season.

You will operate trucks over 3 tons, follow routes, maintain equipment, and communicate with management. Compensation is $18-$21 per hour with discretionary bonus, training and growth opportunities, and

Qualifications

• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Experience with farm or heavy equipment operation preferred.
• Candidates must have valid work authorization in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to management.
• Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary.
• Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons to transport and deliver product.
• Check conditions of truck box after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.
• Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
• Secure cargo for transport, using tarps.
• Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary.
• Communicate effectively with management and other team members.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
• Conduct self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of R.D. Offutt Farms.
• Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
• Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of R.D Offutt Farms Seasonal Truck Drivers is to haul product from designated farm bins to the customer. All drivers are required to hold a valid driver’s license. Daily timekeeping logs, potato load logs, pre- and post-trip inspections, and scale weight tickets are also the driver’s responsibility. Drivers are responsible for loading and unloading trucks, including operating a remote control for loading.

Specific Job Duties Include

• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to management
• Collect delivery instructions from the trucking office and field supervisors, verifying instructions and routes
• Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons to transport and deliver product
• Check conditions of truck box after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs

Job Requirements

• Must have reliable transportation to and from work
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the positions with or without accommodation
• Climbing in to and exiting trucks multiple times throughout the day
• Climbing stairs multiple times a day
• Willingness to work outside
• Walk on uneven ground at the farm locations
• Must be able to work overtime during harvest season or as the need arises
• Experience with farm or heavy equipment operation preferred
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent observation, analysis and organization abilities
• Previous truck driving experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license required
• Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
