Job summary

UPS is seeking a Casual Tractor Trailer Driver in the United States. Drivers operate between UPS locations or to customers on established routes, then return home at the end of the day. The role is seasonal with potential for permanent opportunities, and loading/unloading is handled for you.

Base pay is $23.00 per hour, with competitive weekly pay and tends to require days, nights, and weekends. Candidates must hold a valid Class A CDL, meet DOT requirements, and be legally eligible to work in

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL license in the home state.
  • Doubles/Triples endorsement may be needed depending on location.
  • Pass the DOT physical to work as a tractor trailer driver.
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. and comply with UPS appearance guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a tractor trailer between UPS locations or to a customer on an established route.
  • Seasonal role with potential to become permanent; loading/unloading handled for you.
  • Operate days, nights and/or weekends as required by routes.
  • Maintain reliable, well‑maintained trucks and follow safety guidelines.

Casual Tractor Trailer Driver

Who exactly are UPS Casual Tractor Trailer Drivers?

First and foremost, they’re part of one strong, national team and are a key part of our operations. We refer to them as feeder drivers. They drive a tractor trailer from one UPS location to another—or to a customer on an established route—before returning to their original location. So, after driving our well‑maintained trucks, casual tractor trailer drivers are back home at the end of their day.

What does it take to keep packages moving across the country—and beyond?
  • Casual tractor trailer drivers work days, nights and/or weekends
  • Valid Class A CDL license (commercial driver’s license) in home state
    • Doubles/Triples endorsement may be needed depending on location
  • Pass the DOT physical
  • Reliability, responsibility, and a love of truck driving
  • Legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Casual tractor trailer drivers are expected to comply with UPS appearance guidelines and wear the company‑provided uniform.

Permanent, full‑time delivery drivers receive an average total compensation package of $145,000 per year. That includes $0 healthcare premiums, up to seven weeks of paid vacation, plus paid time off for holidays, sick leave and option days. UPS also makes contributions to a defined‑benefit pension plan for each employee.
