Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an Experienced Tax Professional for a seasonal, in-person role at a local tax office. You will prepare complete tax returns for individuals and businesses, interview clients to understand their financial situations, and provide tailored recommendations while delivering empathetic, consultative service.

With strong training and technology backing you, you’ll help clients navigate complex tax scenarios, uncover savings, and build lasting relationships.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation or related field including individual and business returns.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and implications.
• Build trusted client relationships and identify tax savings opportunities and product offerings.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
