Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a Seasonal Tax Associate in California to meet with clients, gather information, and prepare tax returns with support from experienced teammates. You will explain tax information clearly, identify savings opportunities, and build strong client relationships in a local tax office.

No prior tax experience is required as training starts on day one. You will earn an hourly rate with potential to increase as tax knowledge grows, and this role is in-person at a local H&R Block tax

Qualifications

• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service‑oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs.
• Problem‑solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions.
• Comfort using digital tools and systems including AI based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT.
• High school diploma / GED/ equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation.
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates.
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand.
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services.
• Apply problem‑solving skills to analyze client information and address questions with guidance.
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork and a client‑first approach.
