Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a Seasonal Tax Advisor to prepare complex tax returns and interview clients to tailor personalized solutions. You will help clients navigate tax implications and identify savings opportunities using H&R Block products, supported by comprehensive training and technology.

You’ll work in a local office, delivering empathetic, consultative service, with a competitive hourly rate and an incentive plan that rewards impact as you build tax expertise and serve clients.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• Minimum 2 years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns
• Experience working in a client facing, consultative, or advisory role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language
• Must complete continuing education and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications — then provide clear, personalized recommendations
• Build trusted client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and relevant H&R Block products
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment
