Job summary

Chalet in Wilmette, IL is hiring seasonal team members to help during busy periods both inside and outside the store. The role involves loading outdoor products, stocking items, and assisting customers on a friendly, retail campus.

Candidates should be able to lift 40 pounds (75 pounds preferred), work at least 3 days per week including a weekend shift, and be flexible with hours 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Qualifications

• Lift at least 40 pounds (75 pounds ideally) and work at least 3 days per week, including one weekend shift.
• Retail or warehouse experience is a plus.
• Able to work varied hours between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm and accommodate school schedules.

Responsibilities

• Loading customer vehicles with their purchases.
• Stocking firewood, soil, fertilizer, and other outdoor products.
• Safely securing Christmas trees to customer vehicles during the holiday season.
• Flexibility to work on other projects around the store or nursery as needed.

Job description

Chalet is a fourth generation, family owned retailer that has served our community for over 100 years. We sell a wide variety of products including outdoor plants, indoor plants, garden products, outdoor furniture, home and holiday decorations, and pet food/supplies.

We have an opportunity for new team members to help us during our upcoming busy season who like to work both outside and inside in a physical job.

Responsibilities include:

• Loading customer vehicles with their purchases.
• Stocking firewood, soil, fertilizer, and other outdoor products.
• In the holiday season, freshly cutting and securing Christmas trees to customer vehicles.
• Flexibility to work on other projects around the store or nursery if needed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• We're looking for helpful, hardworking and accountable people who can lift at least 40 pounds (75 pounds ideally) and can work at least 3 days per week (including 1 shift on a weekend day).
• Previous retail or warehouse experience is a plus.
• Ability to work varied hours and/or days as the needs of our seasonal business dictates. We are typically open 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. We’re happy to accommodate school schedules.
