Job description

Job Description

At Nordstrom, our customers build our brand, but it is driven by our people. You will contribute to our long-standing culture and reputation by giving the best service, being a great teammate, and meeting sales goals. You bring expertise, energy, and genuine care to every interaction. You love fashion, thrive on building relationships, and take pride in creating an experience that brings customers back. This is a professional sales role with real earning potential

Whatever your department, your #1 job is the same: help customers feel good and look their best. In Women's Apparel, you'll help customers build a wardrobe that works for real life, from everyday pieces to special occasions. Build lasting relationships by listening to what customers want, offering styling suggestions, and following up when new arrivals fit their taste. Grow your expertise in fit and fashion trends and recommend alterations and tailoring when it helps a customer feel confident in what they choose.

In Shoes

You'll help customers find the perfect footwear through personalized service and product expertise, backed by fit specialists and a stockroom built to keep pace with a fast‑moving department. Build relationships by understanding customer preferences, presenting curated selections, assisting with fit, buckling and lacing, and creating a seamless experience.

In Men's Apparel

You'll help customers build complete wardrobes by combining casual and dress apparel to fit their lifestyle, career, and special occasions. Bring styling expertise across sportswear, suiting, and finishing pieces like belts, socks, underwear, shoes, and accessories to create coordinated looks from head to toe.

In Kids Apparel & Shoes

You'll create a fun, welcoming shopping experience for parents, kids, and gift‑shoppers alike. Build rapport, offer expert sizing guidance, and grow long‑term relationships through follow‑ups as children grow into their next sizes. Partner with expecting and new parents to help them navigate baby essentials, including shoes and baby gear.

In Jewelry, Handbags, Accessories & Luggage

You'll help customers complete their look and meet everyday needs with jewelry, handbags, wallets, luggage, scarves, sunglasses, and other accessories. Use your fashion and product expertise to recommend items that fit a customer's style and lifestyle, and educate them on features, materials, craftsmanship, and brand differences.

A day in the life …

Deliver Nordstrom's 5-Point Selling Standard in every customer interaction: Say Hello, Small Talk, Be Helpful & Sell, Fashion Authority, Follow-up. Build and grow a personal customer base through in‑store interactions, outreach, and digital tools. Offer honest, confident style and fit feedback that earns trust and drives loyalty. Set and achieve personal sales goals, and stay accountable to results. Keep the department customer‑ready, including stocking, re‑merchandising, price markdowns, merchandise recovery, and participate in bi‑annual inventory count. Stay current on product knowledge and trends to serve as a trusted style resource. Show up for your team every shift, communicate openly, contribute to a positive team environment, and pitch in to help the department stay productive. Able to commit to a flexible schedule to meet business needs, including evenings, weekends, and peak periods. Follow Up – Build lasting relationships to drive predictable business by using the 2-2-2 Method (follow up 2 days, 2 weeks, and 2 months after a purchase), Nordy Club enrollment, and Personal Book (your tool for tracking customers so outreach feels personal).

You own this if you have …

A genuine passion for fashion, styling, and customer experience. A self‑motivated, goal‑oriented approach with a track record of hitting targets. Strong communication and relationship‑building skills with a wide range of customers. A team‑first mindset, looking for ways to help your teammates and department succeed. Comfort with technology and digital selling tools. The ability to prioritize and stay organized in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment. Flexibility to work varied hours based on business needs. Physical Requirements: Continuous movement for 6-8 hours per shift, which includes frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing and reaching in order to handle merchandise and assist customers. Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling. Handle bulky and sometimes awkwardly shaped items, which include reaching for and lifting these items above the head. Regularly lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Schedule Hours vary by week based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holiday or event shifts. This role may also require occasional flexibility to support other departments.
