Job summary

The City of Cedar Rapids is seeking seasonal laborers to support Public Works Maintenance, Sewer and Traffic divisions. The role focuses on outdoor, manual work across streets and utilities, with a regular 7:00am–3:30pm schedule and overtime as needed.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the willingness to perform physical, semi-skilled tasks in all weather conditions. The position is not eligible for benefits and sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with asphalt, carpentry, concrete, forestry, traffic signage, construction, sewer, or related work preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Patches holes in streets with asphalt or concrete.
• Assist crack sealing and street maintenance crews.
• Operate paint for street markings and assist in traffic control device installation.
• Drive to work locations and perform routine maintenance tasks as assigned.
