Job summary

National Park Service (DOI) Hawaii National Park seeks a Laborer (Motor Vehicle Operating) for a temporary, full‑time assignment at Hawaii National Park. The position is WG 4 with a pay range of $24.31–$28.34 per hour and may be extended up to two years based on funding.

Locality pay for Hawaii applies. Typical duties include operating light and heavy equipment, maintaining facilities, roads and trails, loading supplies, and performing related labor tasks required by the park.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform the work without more than normal supervision.
• Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc.
• Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
• Maintain work practices that keep area neat and safe.
• Dexterity and safety in physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate light-duty motor vehicles to transport personnel, supplies and equipment.
• Maintain buildings, grounds, roads and trails with power tools and equipment.
• Load/unload materials; move heavy items with wheelbarrows and hand trucks.
• Move furniture, set signs, trim vegetation and pick up litter.
• Cut trees, dig trenches, mix and pour concrete as required; follow safety procedures.
