Job summary

Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Naples, FL seeks a part-time Education Assistant to support outdoor education and interpretive programs for visitors of all ages. The role includes occasional off-site work and front-desk support at the sanctuary, with a seasonal full-time schedule from late November 2026 to late April 2027.

Based on site in Naples, this position pays $19.00 per hour and may involve working at admissions, the nature store, café, and special events, with on-site

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent required; 0–1 year experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation or environmental fields preferred.
• Minimum of two seasons in environmental education.
• Class E driver's license required; local travel for off-site programs.
• CPR & First Aid certification required or able to obtain.
• Evenings and weekends required.
• Strong public speaking and group management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication; ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Ability to work both in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and evaluate outdoor education programs for visitors of all ages.
• Create meaningful experiences and foster environmental appreciation.
• Maintain safety and sanitation across program areas and facilities.
• Update curricula and manage program materials and resources.
• Serve as a naturalist and community environmental steward.
• Interact with visitors and staff, sharing Audubon’s mission.
• Support admissions, retail, café operations, and event logistics.
• Attend mandatory staff trainings and on-site closures.
• Promote equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging in all work.

Education

High school, GED, or vocational training

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field

Two seasons of environmental education experience

Ability to drive locally (Class E license)

CPR & First Aid certification or ability to obtain

Ability to work evenings and weekends

Public speaking and group management

Interpersonal, written, and communication skills

Teamwork and independent work capability
