Job summary

Northgate Gonzalez Market is seeking a Seasonal Fresh Department Clerk for Store #24 in Norwalk, CA. This part-time role focuses on the meat department, customer service and safe, efficient operations in a bustling grocery setting.

Responsibilities include weighing, labeling, and rotating per FIFO; assisting customers with slicing and packaging; adhering to all regulatory and company policies; and maintaining equipment in good condition. Prior meat department knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to hear, speak and understand English to respond to pages and customer requests.
• Ability to read, write, analyze and understand English in written documents and instructions.
• Knowledge of meat cuts, products, and department procedures.

Responsibilities

• Observe store rules and company policies.
• Adhere to health, local/state/federal regulations and weights/measures laws.
• Package, weigh and price products; follow procedures for wrapping, labeling and restocking.
• Handle damaged or spoiled products per policy and control damaged goods.
• Rotate perishable merchandise following FIFO rules.
• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service; assist with slicing, weighing and packaging.
• Use and maintain equipment; report maintenance issues to supervisor.
• Follow safety policies and participate in safety bulletins.
