Job summary

The City of Alexandria’s Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities is seeking seasonal lifeguards to help keep pools safe and welcoming for swimmers of all ages. You will monitor patrons, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies as part of a collaborative team.

This role offers paid training, opportunities to gain lifeguard certification, and hands-on experience in public safety, teamwork, and customer service within a city recreation setting.

Qualifications

• Must have CPR/AED and lifeguard prerequisites.
• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Paid training and certification provided for successful applicants.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of pool patrons.
• Prevent and respond to emergencies, including water rescues.
• Assist with pool setup, cleanliness, and daily operations.
• Support swim meets and events and other recreation activities.
