Job summary

The St. Lawrence Parks Commission is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker (Student) to support horticulture and grounds operations at the Maintenance Building – Crysler Park Service Area. The role involves physical outdoor work in seasonal conditions, with tasks spanning lawn care, planting, and site improvements.

Expected shifts are up to 36.25 hours per week, with pay at $17.60–$18.45 per hour. The position runs in multiple time frames from March to August 2026, and applicants should be ready

Qualifications

• The mechanical aptitude to perform a variety of mechanical tasks using hand and power tools.
• The physical ability to lift, carry, bend and stoop and to load/unload materials.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow basic instructions.
• Communication and customer service skills to interact with staff and the public.
• Ability to learn safety protocols to ensure safety for all.
• A valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide manual labour for horticulture, landscaping, forestry and roads operations.
• Rake, level ground and assist in seeding and sodding newly graded areas.
• Prepare flowerbeds and assist with seasonal planting and transplanting of plants.
• Prune trees and shrubs, mow and trim grass around beds.
• Assist with brush removal and tent installations for events.
• Install posts and road signs, move curbs and assist with painting guardrails and bridges.
