Seasonal Groundskeeper

The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has a great opportunity for a Seasonal Groundskeeper to join our Groundskeeping team in Facilities Operations and be a key member of our success.

Responsibilities

The Seasonal Groundskeeper will work during the months of May through October on a regular shift of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Duties include:

• Mowing lawns, trimming weeds, and raking leaves as assigned.
• Picking up and removing trash prior to mowing a designated area.
• Trimming bushes, shrubs, and hedges; preparing soil and planting flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs.
• Planting trees and pruning them when necessary.
• Applying fertilizer, pesticides, and herbicides as directed.
• Operating and maintaining snow removal equipment, such as shoveling sidewalks, steps, and doorways, and using a snow-blower or snowplow to clear roads, driveways, and parking lots during winter.
• Operating various types of power equipment, including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma or equivalent and have at least one year of professional work experience. Successful completion of pre-employment screenings, including a background check, motor vehicle report, and physical ability assessment, is required. Preferred candidates will have the ability to:

• Operate various types of power landscaping equipment.
• Use hand tools required for landscaping.
• Follow instructions and complete assignments.
• Possess extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes.
• Exhibit excellent time management skills.
