Job summary

Southgate Recreation and Park District is seeking a Seasonal Greenskeeper II to perform skilled golf course maintenance with limited supervision. The role requires prior groundskeeping experience and the ability to operate diverse equipment safely.

The position involves mowing, irrigation support, bunker maintenance, fertilizer applications, and seasonal outdoor tasks under varying weather conditions. Early start times and physical labor are expected as part of standard operations.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 1 year of golf course maintenance, landscape maintenance, groundskeeping, agriculture, or related experience.
• Ability to operate commercial mowing equipment and other landscape maintenance equipment.
• Able to perform golf course maintenance tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist with golf course setup and maintenance tasks.
• Mow greens, tee boxes, fairways, roughs and other turf areas.
• Operate golf course maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.
• Rake and maintain sand bunkers; repair divots and ball marks.
• Assist with irrigation repairs and watering operations.
• Support golf course construction and improvement projects.
• Apply fertilizers and soil amendments under supervision when permitted.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on equipment and tools.
