Job summary

The University of Maryland, College Park is seeking staff for VPSA-Dining Services to support food preparation and service during the Fall semester. This is a seasonal, on-campus role with a fixed-term contract and an hourly wage of $18.22.

Applicants must be able to work weekends, nights, evenings, and holidays, and comply with dining services safety standards and background checks. Posting closes December 1, 2026; employment may begin on or after June 21, 2026 and end by December 22, 2026.

Qualifications

• Ability to assist in preparing and serving food, reading and writing, and basic arithmetic.
• Ability to operate food service equipment and use kitchen utensils.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and work in varied environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of food items by slicing, chopping, grating, cleaning, mixing, etc.
• Serve food following established portion control standards.
• Maintain operational readiness of facilities and equipment; set up counters, steam tables and serving lines.
• Maintain safe and sanitary conditions; clean facilities and equipment, wash and sanitize pots, pans and utensils.
• Assist in stocking and storing food service items; keep records of daily operations, production, consumption and inventory.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, toasters, fryers, mixers, etc.
