Shady Side Academy’s Junior School in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking substitute teachers for PK-5th grade. You may substitute at one campus or multiple campuses, during interviews indicate your preferred campuses.

Note: parents of current SSA students may not substitute in their child’s class. Responsibilities include leading the class in the teacher’s absence, performing duties such as carpool or lunch duty, and maintaining clear communication with SSA personnel to support a caring learning

Qualifications

• Depth of knowledge and understanding of working with children.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Approaching all circumstances with flexibility and patience.

Responsibilities

• Leading the class in the teacher’s absence.
• May be required to fulfill other duties as assigned, such as carpool or lunch duty.
• Using the Frontline absence management system to receive notifications for open positions.
• Clear and timely communication with SSA personnel.
• Being an integral part of a caring community of learners.
• Treating all children and adults at SSA with respect and kindness.
• Communicating with teachers or administrators any relevant information they need to know about the school day.
