Job summary

The National Park Service in California seeks a Seasonal Custodial Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator) to perform custodial and janitorial duties across park facilities. Duties include cleaning floors, windows, and restrooms; operating cleaning equipment; and assisting with light vehicle transport on park grounds.

Entry on duty is expected in spring 2027; position is open to the first 80 applicants or until 2026-10-26. Schedule varies by position.

Qualifications

• There is no substitute of education for experience for Federal Wage System (FWS) positions.
• Experience in custodial work is preferred but not always required.
• Must be able to operate light duty motor vehicles up to 10,000 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning, sanitizing, emptying trash, and restocking public restrooms.
• Cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash and recyclables; scrubs, strips, waxes and polishes floors.
• Washes walls using powered machines or by hand; keeps shop areas clean and in order.
• Moves heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment; climbs ladders and scaffolds to service lights.
• Operates light duty motor vehicles to transport personnel or materials within the park.
