Job summary

Roger’s Gardens in Corona, CA is seeking a friendly seasonal cashier to deliver fast, accurate checkout service during the busy holidays. You will process purchases, assist customers, and direct cash-paying customers to the designated cash station.

Responsibilities include entering items, verifying prices, handling returns, and keeping the checkout area clean and safe while collaborating with team members in a dynamic retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; cashiering experience preferred.

Job description

Provide friendly, efficient checkout service during the holiday season. Accurately process purchases and assist customers in a busy retail environment. Cash is accepted only at one designated station; most cashiers process cashless payments. Daily cash reconciliation is not required for this position.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Accurately enter purchases into the register and verify prices and applicable discounts.
• Process card and other approved cashless payments; direct customers paying cash to the designated cash station.
• Handle cash and provide correct change only when assigned to the designated cash station.
• Greet customers warmly and provide courteous, helpful service throughout checkout.
• Answer customer questions or seek assistance from the appropriate team member.
• Assist with returns and reprice returned merchandise according to company procedures.
• Follow company policies and maintain a clean, organized, and safe checkout area.
• Work well with coworkers and perform other related duties assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Basic cashiering skills and ability to operate a register and payment equipment accurately.
• Friendly, patient manner and ability to remain focused during busy holiday periods.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work cooperatively with other employees.
• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout a shift.
• Ability to lift and move merchandise weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks and learn product codes, prices, and register procedures.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete required paperwork accurately.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous cashiering experience required.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Temporary seasonal positions both full and part time for the holidays. Shifts vary: 9:00 a.m. to 5:50 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 8:30 p.m.
