Job summary

Qualifications

• There is no substitution of education for experience for Federal Wage System (FWS) positions.

Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate to journey-level carpentry work to construct, alter, maintain, and repair buildings, structures, and other features made of wood, wood substitutes, and composite materials.
• Inspect and repair deteriorated or damaged carpentry components, select and use appropriate materials and fasteners, and perform work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Interpret and apply work instructions, blueprints, drawings, specifications, building requirements, and applicable historic preservation standards when performing carpentry work.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install carpentry materials using hand tools, power tools, woodworking equipment, and established construction techniques.
• Construct, alter, maintain, and repair wooden structures and components, including floors, walls, decks, doors, windows, stairs, handrails, partitions, and other features made of wood, wood substitutes, or composite materials.
• Independently plan, lay out, and complete journey-level carpentry projects, determining work methods, materials, and sequences and performing skilled construction, repairs, and finish work requiring close tolerances, structural soundness, and accurate fit.
