Job summary

The City of Sandpoint is seeking two seasonal Parks Maintenance Workers to perform a wide range of tasks related to park and recreation facilities upkeep. The role may involve public buildings, open spaces, and outdoor environments with exposure to weather and shift work including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required responsibilities include operating light and heavy equipment, following written and oral instructions, and providing strong customer service to Sandpoint's citizens.

Qualifications

Job description

The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform a wide range of tasks ranging from general labor activities to highly skilled tasks relating to the upkeep of park and recreation facilities as well as public buildings and open space. Employee reports directly to the Park Building and Grounds Supervisor. Work is performed in public buildings and an outdoor environment that may expose the employee to adverse weather conditions, hazardous chemicals, excessive noise, or potential personal danger. Duties may require some evening, weekend, holiday and/or on-call work. The City is currently seeking to fill two seasonal positions with an anticipated term of five (5) months.

Knowledge of:

• Various skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and manual tasks.
• Safe and proper handling of various hand and power tools.

Ability to:

• Operate light and heavy equipment.

Experience

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work of a Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker.
