Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a temporary Christmas Bell Ringer to aid holiday fundraising. The role involves standing outdoors at kettle locations, greeting the public, and encouraging donations. Training is provided, and the position requires 17+ years of age and the ability to pass a background check.

Hours run Monday through Saturday with up to 40 hours per week, November through December. This is a seasonal, non-exempt post supporting a vital community mission.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow instructions with limited supervision.
• Ability to greet and courteously respond to the general public.
• Ability to abide by required dress code.
• Ability to ring small handbell and be responsible for bell and apron.
• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to stand in one location for extended periods in outside weather conditions with breaks and lunch periods as required by State law.
• Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, and culture.
• Must be able to clear a Background Check.
• No formal education or experience is required.
• Complete Bell Ringer Training (by invitation only).
• Must be 17 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Monitors a kettle at an assigned location; ensures that the kettle is never left unattended; ensures security and accountability of funds.
• Greets the public in a courteous and friendly manner; expresses appreciation to donors.
• Conducts duties following The Salvation Army ministry and its Christian principles.
• Rings the bell and participates in charitable donations at outdoor locations.
• Follow all policies and mandates of The Salvation Army and partnering businesses.
• Communicate with the Kettle Coordinator 24 hours before missing a shift when reasonably possible.
• Relieve the previous volunteer promptly.
• Other duties as assigned.
