Job summary

Schmitt Music Bloomington is seeking a Seasonal Band Instrument Cleaning Associate to prepare student instruments for inspection and repair in our Bloomington repair facility. You will clean, wipe, and prep band instruments and cases, ensuring surfaces, mouthpieces, and accessories are sanitized and ready for the next step in the shop process.

This role emphasizes attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently within a team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience cleaning or handling instruments helpful but not required.
• Familiarity with band instruments preferred.
• Detail-oriented with steady hand.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Clean and wipe down student band instruments according to shop procedures.
• Clean instrument cases and vacuum case interiors.
• Sanitize mouthpieces and accessories per procedures.
• Organize cleaned instruments for inspection, repair, or fulfillment.
• Identify visible damage and communicate concerns to shop manager or technician.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety procedures.
• Assist technicians and team during peak periods.
• Work hours including occasional overtime during peak season.
