Job summary

David’s Bridal is seeking an Alterations Specialist to complete fittings and alterations to our bridal standards. You will assist customers in person, over the phone, and via chat, ensuring a five-star experience and coordinating with stylists on gown fit and customization.

You will manage alterations room, maintain dress standards, handle sewing, steaming, and finishing, and uphold the store's processes. A High school diploma and 1–2 years retail sewing experience are preferred; POS system

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years retail experience in an apparel or specialty store.
  • Prior sewing experience, preferably in bridal or special occasion.
  • Prior experience with a computerized POS system is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers and manage inquiries across channels.
  • Manage customer flow to deliver five-star service.
  • Assist alterations, fittings, and dress customization with stylists.
  • Maintain alterations room and ensure garment quality before delivery.
  • Support cashiering and process transactions accurately.
  • Maintain store standards and follow Dress Code Policy.

Position Overview

Alterations Specialists are responsible for completing all fittings and alterations to the high standards of David’s Bridal and report to the Store Manager. They exemplify friendly, knowledgeable, and technical expertise and provide superior customer service as members of the store team and demonstrate the value and qualities of the brand.

Essential Job Functions
  • Welcome all customers with genuine, friendly enthusiasm over the phone, virtual chats, and in person, communicating clearly and concisely and adapting style to suit customers.
  • Use all systems to manage the customer flow to deliver a five‑star customer experience.
  • Maintain all service levels by being prepared, welcoming, meeting the needs, and being there for all customers, including operational checklist tasks and meeting customers’ emotional and practical needs.
  • Provide exceptional service experience to multiple customers at one time and contribute to the store’s achievement of five‑star customer service.
  • Proactively address customer concerns with confidence and know when to escalated and partner with leadership.
  • Communicate how alterations can play an important role in perfecting the dress for the event in partnership with Alterations and promote all alteration services and personalization options.
  • Assist stylists in closing sales by consulting customers regarding gown fit and customization.
  • Maintain store standards to support a flawless shopping experience.
  • Maintain a high standard of dress that complies with the Dress Code Policy.
  • Greets and escorts all alteration customers to and from appointment locations.
  • Maintain quality control guidelines and inspect all altered, steamed, and pressed garments to verify pristine condition before final delivery to the customer.
  • Respond promptly to all customer questions by providing product and service information.
  • Build long‑term relationships with customers to exceed customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Maintain inventory management by processing special orders, pick‑ups, and ensuring first‑quality standards for all merchandise.
  • Ensure that alteration pricing is at company standards.
  • Manage all alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning of garments to company standards.
  • Resolve customer service issues swiftly and effectively in compliance with company guidelines.
  • Support all cash‑wrap behaviors and process transactions with accuracy to make every customer feel celebrated.
  • Maintain the alterations room so that it is consistently clean and well‑organized.
  • Perform duties and tasks as assigned by store management.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; reach for tools and objects with hands and arms; climb stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; bend, twist, and stand; move throughout the store; and talk to and hear customers. Manual dexterity is required to use POS terminals, count money, steam garments, access computers, and perform fittings and sewing. Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds is necessary. The employee must have good visual acuity at close and distant ranges, use peripheral vision and depth perception, and read and use a computer, electronic devices, and phones for long periods.

Education & Credentials
  • High school diploma or equivalent degree.
  • 1‑2 years prior retail experience in an apparel or specialty store environment.
  • Prior sewing experience required, preferably in bridal and/or special occasion production.
  • Prior experience with a computerized POS (Point of Sale) system is a plus.
