Job summary

Brunswick Corporation’s Sea Ray division on Merritt Island, FL is seeking an Assembly Technician to join the AFI team. You will perform a wide range of boat-building tasks, including gunking, glassing, assembling, fitting, and installing, with emphasis on final finishes.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years boat-building experience, can read prints, use hand tools, lift heavy objects, and multi-task in a dusty, hot manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 2-3 years boat building experience preferred.
  • Fitting / Installing experience.
  • Working knowledge of hand tools.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to read and understand prints and production schedules.
  • Ability to work with suspended loads and heavy lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Install cabinets, floors, cockpits, benches and other installation tasks as assigned.
  • Install front-of-line interior work with emphasis on final finish elements and cosmetic aspects of the boat.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

As part of the talented AFI team, you will perform a wide variety of tasks in a large boat manufacturing facility. Assembly tasks performed may include gunking, glassing, assembling, fitting, and installing.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for installing cabinets, floors, cockpits, benches, and any other installation tasks as assigned.
  • Install the front of the line interior work with emphasis on the final finish elements and cosmetic aspects of the boat.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be able to adapt to changing requirements in a positive and proactive way.
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • Knowledge of hazardous chemical handling and disposal.
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours to support the requirements of the business.
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work in a dusty and hot environment.
  • Must possess the desire and ambition to always work safely and report all hazards to their supervisor immediately.
  • Must understand basic terminology such as OSHA, DEP, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment where designated, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.
  • Must be able to understand and complete the OSHA questionnaire, pass spirometer test, and physically wear a respirator where required.
  • Must be able to physically handle the requirements of the job, including lifting, bending, climbing stairs, spending working hours on your feet, etc.
  • Must be able to understand all safety related document and worksite rules and practices, equipment operating instructions, documented safety management systems, and health and safety requirements, including the General Safety Rules and individual safety commitment.
Working Conditions:
  • Role is located in Merritt Island, FL

The anticipated pay range for this position is $21.65-26.30/hr. The actual pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
