Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Supplier Management Team Technical Lead for the Aerojet (Propulsion) Subcontract. The position is based at SDS HQ in Roy, UT with possible assignments in Manhattan Beach, CA or Huntsville, AL.

Lead a cross-functional team to ensure technical excellence and alignment with program baselines. You will travel up to 50%+, develop SSOWs, assist in RFIs/RFPs, evaluate subcontractor deliverables, and manage risks within cost and schedule constraints.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in STEM with related engineering experience.
  • Willing to travel 50%+ among Roy, Huntsville, Manhattan Beach and other locations.
  • 5 years design and manufacturing experience in liquid propulsion systems.
  • Experience with Aerojet-supported technology (aerospace electronics, comms, and/or liquid propulsion).
  • Experience with systems engineering lifecycle from requirements to acceptance testing.
  • Experience managing a technical baseline.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) with ability to obtain Top Secret.

Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is looking for a Supplier Management Team Technical Lead over the Aerojet (Propulsion) Subcontract, located at the Strategic Deterrence Division (SDS) headquarters in Roy, UT. The position may also be filled in Manhattan Beach, CA or Huntsville, AL.

What You’ll Get To Do

As the Aerojet SMT Technical Lead, you will partner with the Program Element and Segment Executives, Global Supply Chain, Mission Assurance, Office of the Chief Engineer, and lead a cross-functional technical team of various systems engineering disciplines managing major supplier efforts focusing on technical excellence and technical rigor.

Responsibilities

Primary job responsibilities are leading the technical oversite for Aerojet as the main engineering point of contact for the Program. This includes aligning supplier technical activities with overall program technical baseline and verifying supplier technical deliverables are successfully integrated:

  • Travels up to 50% or more to interface with leadership, customer/supplier, and program milestones.
  • Develop Aerojet Statements of Work (SSOW) through collaboration with key technical and programmatic stakeholders.
  • Assists Program and Supplier Management Team Lead (SMTL) in generating technical content for Aerojet Request for Information (RFIs ) / Request for Proposals (RFPs) / etc.
  • Responsible for Aerojet proposal technical evaluations and supports program and supplier management team lead (SMTL) in negotiations.
  • Review and approve Aerojet’s technical subcontractor deliverables (SDRLs) with guidance from applicable cross functional program Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Partner with the SMTL to align Aerojet technical objectives within program cost and schedule constraints.
  • Establish and track technical goals and commitments for Aerojet to drive maturity and ensure high-quality execution.
  • Manage and mitigate technical execution risks by monitoring Aerojet technical performance against metrics and addressing identified capability gaps.
  • Oversee and maintain the SMT technical action item tracker to facilitate communication and accountability with Aerojet.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 14 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 10 years of related engineering experience.
  • Willing and able to travel 50% or more between Roy, Huntsville, and Manhattan Beach, as well as various other locations.
  • 5 years Design and Manufacturing experience in liquid propulsion systems.
  • Experience working with technology Aerojet supports. For example, aerospace electronic systems, Comms systems, and/or liquid propulsion systems.
  • Experience with the systems engineering “V” and different phases of the acquisition lifecycle including requirements development to acceptance testing.
  • Experience in managing a technical baseline.
  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR).
These Qualifications Would Be Nice To Have
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Prior Supplier Management Experience on a Program in the Development phase.
  • Technical evaluations of supplier proposals & subsequent contract negotiations.
  • Experience in managing technical risks and opportunities.
  • Experience in Earned Value Management (EVM) or being a control account manager (CAM).

Primary Level Salary Range: $166,500.00 - $289,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
