Job summary

Astranis is seeking a Hardware Design Intern for the Software Defined Radio Team (Summer 2027). Interns work on hard problems and contribute to hardware/software that may fly on our satellites.

Open to students enrolled in a four-year university; interns often move to full-time roles after graduation. The role focuses on designing and testing SDR hardware, bringing up lab hardware, and integrating systems with the spacecraft.

Qualifications

• Passion for hardware development in fast-paced environments.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to design, build, and test PCBA hardware (student projects, teams, or personal projects).
• Solid EE foundation in mixed-signal design (ADCs, DACs, power integrity) and RF design.
• Bonus: experience with software defined radios, PCB design tools, analysis software, Python, soldering, and lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, implement, and test internally developed SDR hardware.
• Bring up and debug hardware in the lab with top instruments.
• Write code to evaluate performance and automate testing of satellite hardware.
• Integrate systems into the spacecraft in collaboration with the team.
