Job summary

Schwab Technology Services in Austin, TX is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Lead to elevate quality across enterprise applications. You will design scalable automation, lead AI-enabled testing initiatives, and mentor teams in a fast-paced Agile environment.

The role emphasizes end-to-end testing, CI/CD integration, and collaboration with distributed engineering and product partners to ensure release readiness and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or related disciplines.
• 5+ years designing and maintaining enterprise-scale automation frameworks.
• Strong API, integration, UI, regression, and end-to-end testing experience with Schwab systems.
• Automation using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, SpecFlow, Cucumber, RestAssured, or similar.
• BDD methodologies and frameworks experience.
• CI/CD testing, build validation, and release readiness knowledge.
• GitHub and modern DevOps workflow experience.
• Knowledge of performance, scalability, and risk-based testing.
• Experience with SQL, MongoDB, and data validation.
• Experience evaluating AI/GenAI capabilities to improve quality and productivity.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Quality Engineering strategy across enterprise applications and platforms.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for API, UI, and end-to-end testing.
• Drive AI-enabled Quality Engineering practices to improve test coverage and release confidence.
• Champion AI-assisted development, test automation, and agentic workflows across the lifecycle.
• Establish testing standards, risk-based testing, and release readiness processes.
• Partner with Engineering, Architecture, Product, and Business teams to embed quality everywhere.
• Lead validation for modernization, cloud, resiliency, and platform transformation.
• Drive performance, scalability, resiliency, and reliability testing practices.
• Contribute to CI/CD automation, deployment certification, and release governance.
• Mentor engineers and QA professionals to foster automation and engineering excellence.
• Maintain and improve tools for test automation, source control, release management, and quality reporting.
• Collaborate with distributed teams and vendor partners to deliver strategic outcomes.
