Job summary

Scylla AG, a premium river cruise operator, seeks a Nightwatch to safeguard ships overnight. You will monitor public areas, support guests during night hours, and assist with operational tasks, ensuring a calm, welcoming atmosphere aboard.

Seasonal role March–November across European ships; benefits include free onboard meals and accommodation, health insurance, internet, and shore leave. Hotel/cruise experience preferred; visa considerations apply for non‑EU applicants.

Qualifications

• Experience in the hotel industry and/or river cruise ship experience.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with a friendly approach.
• Guest-focused, stress-resistant, calm under pressure and a team player.
• Open-minded, flexible with high social and cultural competencies.
• Must be representative of Scylla’s values; age 18+; Non-EU visa may be required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee night reception management.
• Coordinate with Front Desk for night issues.
• Assist the Reception with special tasks as needed.
• Conduct hourly security patrols and monitor access.
• Ensure ship safety, lighting, and security during the night.
• Handle guest wake‑up calls, requests, and inquiries.
• Arrange and deliver daily newspapers as needed.
• Assist with early morning breakfast setup.

ISMIRA Agency actively recruiting for position NIGHTWATCH for Scylla AG!

Founded in Switzerland in 1973, Scylla has been setting the standard in premium river cruising for more than 50 years. Their motto is “Quality, our passion”. Today, the company operates more than 40 modern river ships, sailing along the Rhine, Danube, Seine, Rhône, Saône, and many other beautiful rivers across Europe.

As Nightwatch, you ensure the safety, security, and smooth operation of the ship overnight. You monitor public areas, support guests during nighttime hours, and assist with operational and housekeeping tasks. Your vigilance and professionalism help create a calm and welcoming environment for guests and crew.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Professional management of Reception during the night.
• Co-operation with the Front Desk of any issues occurred during the night.
• Assist the Reception with special jobs if necessary.
• Hourly security patrols through the ship with several check points.
• Supervision of the vessel against unauthorized access.
• Responsible for an secured/ locked entrance if the ship is docked.
• Responsible for the safety of the ship against burglary and theft.
• Responsible for the correct lighting on the ship during the night.
• Answering telephone calls and respond to guests request and complaints.
• Take and carry out personal wake up calls by telephone.
• Deliver and distribute the daily (internet) newspapers to the guests and departments per charter needs.
• Responsible for the set-up of the early riser breakfast.
• Support of internet for the guests.
• Storing empty bottles in their specific crates intended in the designated area in a well-organized manner.

Requirements:

• Experienced within the hotel industry and/ or previous river cruise ship
  experience
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with the friendly and positive approach.
• Guest focused, stress resistant, calm under the pressure, resilient and team player with positive approach
• Professional attitude and appearance, reliable and hard-working with great team spirit
• Open minded and flexible with high social, interpersonal and cultural competencies
• Being representative of Scylla´s values.
• Age: min. 18 years old
• Non-EU nationals will need D type German visa before joining
