Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Specialty Care Transport (SCT) Nurse for night-shift transport between facilities in South Jersey. The role requires RN licensure in New Jersey with ACLS/PALS/CPR certifications and EMT current. Per Diem, part-time hours apply, with a night shift and 12-hour shifts in Voorhees.

The SCT Nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient needs during transport, leading a multidisciplinary team while ensuring safety and quality care throughout every transfer.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; NJ RN license required.
• ACLS, PALS, CPR certifications required; EMT current.
• BSN preferred; CCRN or CEN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient assessment and provides appropriate treatment during transports per protocol.
• Functions as crew leader on a multi-disciplinary care team.
• Documents assessment, treatment, response, and transfer; responds to QA requests.
• Manages changing situations with safety principles and patient care standards.
• Maintains Virtua owned equipment and property in a safe, clean, and secure manner.
• Performs vehicle and equipment checks; SCTU ready for service at all times.

Job Summary:

The role of the Specialty Care Transport (SCT) Nurse is to provide the required care during transport between designated facilities by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient’s needs during each encounter. The SCT Nurse demonstrates leadership by adhering to standards of patient care, providing the highest level of customer service and by directing the multidisciplinary patient care team. The SCT Nurse accepts the responsibility of creating an environment which promotes healing and wellness, demonstrated by delivery of positive patient and family-centered care services.

Position Responsibilities:

• Performs patient assessment and provides appropriate treatment according to established protocols and medical command during all patient transports.
• Functions as the crew leader on a multi-disciplinary care team.
• Accurately and completely documents patient assessment, treatment, response to treatment and transfer of care upon completion of every incident. Accurately and efficiently responds to all quality assurance requests.
• Effectively manages rapidly changing situations and demonstrates standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
• Maintains all Virtua owned equipment and property in a safe, clean and secure manner.
• Performs vehicle and equipment check at the start of each shift. Ensures that the SCTU is ready for service at all times.

Position Qualifications Required

• Required Experience: (1) year minimum nursing experience required, (2) years nursing experience preferred in an Emergency Department or a Critical Care Unit. Strong critical thinking skills required with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team during delivery of patient care.
• Required Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred.
• Training / Certification / Licensure: ACLS, PALS, CPR certifications required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Valid driver’s license. Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) required. Current CCRN certification or CEN certification preferred.

Hourly Rate: $60.05
