Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Specialty Care Transport (SCT) Nurse to provide direct patient care during inter-facility transport. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate needs, lead a multidisciplinary team, and maintain high standards of patient- and family-centered care.

Graduate RN with ACLS/PALS/CPR, NJ license, EMT current; CCRN/CEN preferred. Strong clinical judgment and the ability to adapt to rapid changes are essential alongside a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
• Valid RN license in New Jersey; ACLS, PALS, CPR certificates required.
• Current EMT certification; CCRN/CEN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient assessment and provides treatment per established protocols during transports.
• Functions as crew leader on a multi-disciplinary care team.
• Documents assessment, treatment, response, and transfer of care; responds to QA requests.
• Manages rapidly changing situations with standard precautions and patient safety principles.
• Maintains Virtua equipment and property in a safe, clean and secure manner.
• Performs vehicle and equipment check at shift start; SCTU ready for service.

Job Summary

The role of the Specialty Care Transport (SCT) Nurse is to provide the required care during transport between designated facilities by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient’s needs during each encounter. The SCT Nurse demonstrates leadership by adhering to standards of patient care, providing the highest level of customer service and by directing the multidisciplinary patient care team. The SCT Nurse accepts the responsibility of creating an environment which promotes healing and wellness, demonstrated by delivery of positive patient and family-centered care services.

Position Responsibilities

• Performs patient assessment and provides appropriate treatment according to established protocols and medical command during all patient transports.
• Functions as the crew leader on a multi-disciplinary care team.
• Accurately and completely documents patient assessment, treatment, response to treatment and transfer of care upon completion of every incident. Accurately and efficiently responds to all quality assurance requests.
• Effectively manages rapidly changing situations and demonstrates standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
• Maintains all Virtua owned equipment and property in a safe, clean and secure manner.
• Performs vehicle and equipment check at the start of each shift. Ensures that the SCTU is ready for service at all times.

Position Qualifications Required

• year minimum nursing experience required, (2) years nursing experience preferred in an Emergency Department or a Critical Care Unit. Strong critical thinking skills required with the ability to work autonomously, and as part of a team during delivery of patient care.

Required Education

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred.

Training / Certification / Licensure

ACLS, PALS, CPR certifications required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.

Valid driver’s license required. Must be at least 18 years of age and meet insurance requirements.

Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) required. Current CCRN certification or CEN certification preferred.

Salary:

$45.64 - $61.91 Hourly
