Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology seeks a Training Specialist to deliver Aegis Training and Readiness Center instruction at Dahlgren, VA. You will train Navy candidates on Aegis systems and ensure readiness of Combat Systems technicians.

The role requires a technical bachelor’s degree or equivalent Navy training, 8–10+ years USN experience as an Aegis Fire Control Technician, and possession of Secret clearance. Occasional travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Instruct Navy candidates on ship defense systems.
• Prepare and conduct training programs, seminars and discussions.
• Design, develop, organize and deliver training for all personnel levels.

HOW A TRAINING SPECIALIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

• As part of the Training Team, you will be working with others who have differing levels of expertise and together you be able to achieve the mission of training the Navy’s next group of Combat Systems technicians.

• Responsible for the instruction of Navy candidates on the systems for defense of the ship and ships around them.

• Use of their Navy skills to teach that same skill to new candidates

• Prepares and/or conducts training programs, teaches classes, holds seminars and discussion groups.

• Designs, develops, organizes, and delivers training programs to train all levels of personnel.

• Develops tests and visual aids, conducts training classes, and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities.

• Creates teaching outline in conformance with selected instructional methods, utilizing knowledge of specified training needs and effectiveness of training methods.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

• Education, bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline, and/or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work/military experience.

• Minimum of 8 years, prefer 10+ years of USN experience as an Aegis Fire Controlman

• Must be current or recently former USN Fire Control Technician (AEGIS)

• Graduate of NAVY Aegis Computer Network C School

• Graduate of NAVY Aegis A school

• Specialized experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and testing of Aegis Computer Networks.

• Knowledge of but not limited to - the Aegis Computer Networks to include, but not limited to Local Area Networks, Switch Blade Servers, Routers, Servers, VME Chassis Structure, Fiber Optics, and Digital Interfaces on the Aegis Baselines 7.2A, &.2B, 9.A and 9.C.

• Possess AWS/ACNT NECs V00C/V69A, V01C/V75A, V48A, V60A, V68A.

• Master Training Specialist in support of SCSTC/ATRC/TACTRAGRU is a significant plus.

• Security Clearance Level: Secret.

• Location: Customer site, Aegis Training and Readiness Center Dahlgren, VA.

• Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing.Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
