Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking a Surgical Tech to support the delivery team in the C-section or delivery room. You will scrub in, assist surgeons, and contribute to a smooth triage and post-delivery flow.

Responsibilities include basic patient care, answering call lights, stocking supplies, and transferring patients to radiology or rooms as needed. A high school diploma and ORT program are preferred, with BLS required.

Qualifications

• Basic patient care and assistance to delivery team.
• BLS certification or readiness required.
• Willingness to learn sterile technique and OR protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering direct and assistive patient care in C-section or delivery room.
• Scrub and assist surgeons as directed.
• Assist with call lights, telephone duties, meal tray pickup and Nutrition Services.
• Prepare triage room and maintain cleanliness and stock par levels.
• Transfer patients and assist with mobility as needed.

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, performs all processes that relate to the delivery of direct and assistive quality patient care in the C-section room or delivery room. Is a member of the surgical team and scrubs and assists surgeons as directed. When not assisting with a delivery, the tech will assist with answering call lights and telephones; will pick up meal trays and return them to Nutrition Services; will keep triage room ready for patients, including but not limited to changing linen, cleaning bed space, and emptying trash. The tech will also provide basic patient care by assisting patients to the restroom and by transferring patients to triage, radiology, or patient rooms. The tech will also be responsible for stocking the department with appropriate supplies to pre determined par levels.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred


• Completion of an O.R.T. program preferred

Experience

• Previous Surgical Tech experience preferred


• 6 months of experience in medical field preferred

• Licenses, Registrations, or Certification


• BLS required
