Responsibilities

• Operate paving screed equipment and adjust width as needed.
• Maintain and inspect paving equipment per safety policies.
• Heat screed at start of shift and clean at end.
• Monitor material distribution and control screed direction.
• Communicate effectively in high-stress situations and maintain customer relations.
• Adhere to OSHA and Knife River safety/environmental regulations.
• Travel as required and perform other duties as assigned.

We are looking for an experienced Screed Operator for our Cheyenne, WY Location.

Duties and/or Responsibilities:

• Uses safe work procedures that comply with safety policies and regulations. (Federal, state, local and company policies).
  
• Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
  
• Safely and properly perform maintenance on paving machine.
  
• Safely and properly operate adjusting mechanism of paving machine. Bolts extensions to screed to adjust width as needed.
  
• Heat screed at beginning of shift.
  
• Observes distribution of paving material along screed and controls direction of screed.
  
• Clean screed at end of shift.
  
• Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
  
• Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
  
• Ensure OSHA, EPA, and Knife River safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  
• Job requires steady to intermittent and repetitive physical activity including: standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven ground, lifting, carrying, pushing, shoveling, and raking.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
  

Minimum Qualifications:

One year or more experience operating screed equipment

Has knowledge of the aspects of paving operations

A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred

Valid driver’s license

Must be able to work day shifts and night shifts. Shifts may vary according to project demands

Must be able to work in all weather conditions

Must be willing to travel if job requires

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
