Eli Lilly and Company seeks a Post-Doctoral Process Development Scientist to independently drive experiments and interface with external groups to deliver timely technical reports. You will interrogate excipients and formulations, analyze data, and lead design of experiments to optimize dry product manufacturing processes.

The role requires strong scientific expertise, bilingual English/Spanish communication, and flexibility for 24-hour operations, travel, and cross-functional teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a life science related field (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Pharmacy, etc.)
  • Research experience using laboratory equipment and powder characterization technologies is preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong scientific and technical knowledge in dry product formulation, statistical data analysis, technical writing, and project management.
  • Fully bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Strong technical communication skills (written and spoken) in English and Spanish
  • Critical thinking and sound judgement; problem-solving skills; computer literate
  • Self-driven; teamwork oriented
  • Ability to collaborate with other parts of the organization and across multiple levels is essential.
  • Flexibility to provide technical support for a 24-hour process operation; rotating shifts; weekends/holidays if necessary.
  • Candidate must also be willing to travel.
  • Strong compliance mindset and sound judgement.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for technical interrogation of excipients and formulation blends to support the company's pipeline.
  • Utilize analytical instruments to build understanding of manufacturing processes and properties of excipients, APIs, tablets, capsules and blends.
  • Perform extensive data analysis/interpretation.
  • Prepare technical reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
  • Lead design of experiments and development of lab models for optimizing dry product manufacturing processes.
  • Promote technical excellence and scientific understanding across the TS/MS organization.
  • Drive productivity improvements through bench-scale experimentation.
  • Ensure successful technical transfers and provide support for the dry product process.
  • Collaborate with Indianapolis Product and Process Development Group and TS/MS and Process Team to troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Document thoroughly and adhere to GLPs, health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Gain hands-on experience with equipment and instrumentation for modeling manufacturing processes and material characterization.
  • Strengthen analytical skills and pharmaceutical data handling; interact with multidisciplinary teams.

We are currently hiring a Scientist TS/MS

The Post-Doctoral Process Development Scientist should be self-starter, independent, and work well under tight timelines. Should be Interfaces with external groups to ensure accurate and timely completion/delivery of projects, investigations, information and/or preparation/review of technical reports.

Main Responsibilities
  • Responsible for technical interrogation of the various excipients and formulation blends obtained from different manufacturing platforms to support our company's pipeline.
  • Utilize a wide variety of analytical instruments and methods, to build fundamental understanding of manufacturing process and functional properties and attributes of excipients, API's, tablets, capsules and formulation blends.
  • Perform extensive data analysis/interpretation.
  • Preparing good technical reports to summarize the findings and recommendations of the analysis.
  • Play a leadership role in the design of experiments, and the development and usage of laboratory models suitable for optimizing dry product manufacturing processes.
  • Promote deep technical excellence and scientific understanding throughout the TS/MS organization
  • Drive and prioritize productivity improvements through bench scale experimentation.
  • Ensure successful technical transfers and provide technical support for the dry product process.
  • Partnering and networking with the Indianapolis Product and Process Development Group and TS/MS organization and the multidisciplinary Process Team to troubleshoot and improve the capability of manufacturing processes.
  • Execute with good documentation and laboratory practices.
  • Promote and model by example compliance to GLPs, health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • During the experience, you will be able to:
    • Gain hands-on experience on the operation of equipment and instrumentation used for the modeling of commercial dry product processes and material characterization.
    • Solidify analytical skills, pharmaceutical data handling and process analytic applications.
    • Interact with multidisciplinary teams supporting manufacturing operations and familiarize yourself with career opportunities for professionals sharing your background in our manufacturing organization.
    • Expand your experience based to enhance competitiveness in the pharmaceutical job market.
Basic Qualifications

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$52,500 - $154,000

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
