Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking an experienced R&D supervisor to manage analytical projects from assay design through validation and implementation. You will supervise bench work, diagnose test issues, and drive corrective actions while supporting the R&D department’s development and maintenance efforts.

The role requires strong expertise in HPLC, GC, GC/MS, LC-MS/MS and ICP/MS, plus the ability to train staff and coordinate across departments.

Qualifications

  • Six years of R&D experience with extensive experience in HPLC, GC, GC/MS, LC-MS/MS and ICP/MS required or relevant advanced degree.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate clinical or applied science required.
  • Master’s Degree or PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and provides bench level supervision of projects for R&D using HPLC, GC, GC/MS, LC-MS/MS and ICP/MS as directed by Technical Director.
  • Coordinates implementation of new procedures within the department and with other support departments.
  • Performs statistical analysis and validation of new methods; provides written summaries for method documentation.
  • Trains staff in new methods both in technical and instrumental aspects.
  • Manages special projects with coordination of resources and personnel.
  • Serves as a resource for HPLC, GC, GC/MS and LC-MS/MS questions.
  • Writes technical proposals soliciting drug analysis services and contributes to business proposals.
  • Maintains testing reliability including diagnosing test failures and implementing corrective action.
  • Provides technical understanding of analytical techniques with emphasis on instrumental methods.
  • Informs supervisor of problems with test procedures.
  • Maintains records of corrective and preventive maintenance to satisfy licensing requirements.
  • Supports and complies with laboratory policies and procedures.

  • Maintains present testing reliability including diagnosing test failures (instrumental and chemical) and implementing corrective action.
  • Provides technical understanding of analytical techniques with particular emphasis on instrumental methods of analysis.
  • Responsible for informing the appropriate supervisor of all problems associated with the proper performance of test procedures.
  • Maintains accurate records of all corrective and preventive maintenance to satisfy to licensing requirement.
  • Actively supports and complies with laboratory policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Required Work Experience
  • Six (6) years of R&D experience with extensive experience in following analytical techniques, HPLC, Gas Chromatography, GC/MS, LC-MS/MS, and ICP/MS required or relevant advanced degree as a requirement.
