Job summary

Genentech's Sudharsan Lab in the Department of Immunology and Ophthalmology seeks a Scientist 3 to drive target identification, validation, and development of novel retinal therapies focusing on AMD using human iPSC-derived retinal models.

You will design and execute experiments, validate targets, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, sharing findings at internal forums and external conferences. Relocation benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Stem Cell Biology or related field.
• Strong background in cell culture-based assay development and troubleshooting.
• Experience with human iPSC culture, maintenance, and differentiation workflows.
• Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications.
• Excellent collaborative skills in cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to learn and adopt new techniques.

Responsibilities

• Develop human iPSC-derived retinal models (RPE and photoreceptors) and design cell-based assays.
• Validate novel targets and study AMD pathogenesis, evaluating therapeutic candidates.
• Learn and implement new experimental workflows and analytical tools as priorities evolve.
• Maintain rigorous experimental design and meticulous electronic lab records.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and communicate findings at conferences.
