Job summary

Eurofins USA Discovery Services seeks a Scientist II – Analytical Chemist to advance analytical method development and LC-MS performance for CRO projects. The role requires hands-on expertise in LC-MS, method development, and method validation within a CRO or industrial lab setting.

You will mentor junior scientists, manage lab operations, and contribute to expanding service offerings while ensuring compliance with FDA/ICH/OECD guidelines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of direct LC-MS experience in CRO or industry labs.
• Experience with validation of bioanalytical methods per FDA/ICH/OECD guidelines.
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
• Experience leading R&D or innovation programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform work in a lab setting meeting the physical requirements.
• Develop LC-MS methods for ADME/DMPK and BioAnalysis applications.
• Provide leadership and mentorship for junior scientists and lab planning.
• Develop analytical methods supporting internal and external project teams.
• Troubleshoot and maintain Mass Spectrometers and HPLC units.
• Prepare and manage inventory of buffers, reagents, and finished goods.
• Support validation of new methods and expansion of service lines.

Job Description

The Scientist II – Analytical Chemist will support the Eurofins Discovery business in contract research services. This role requires applied experience and proven knowledge in analytical chemistry method development and analysis, with related experience in a contract research organization (CRO) or industry laboratory.

Here’s what you’ll do:

• Perform work in a laboratory setting, meeting the physical job requirements of a lab role.
• Develop Liquid Chromatography- Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) methods for ADME/ DMPK and BioAnalysis applications
• Provide leadership and mentorship for junior scientists, and lab leadership through daily lab management, equipment management and lab planning.
• Develop analytical methods supporting project teams both internally and externally for new assay development.
• Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of Mass Spectrometers and HPLC units.
• Experience with Sciex® or Thermo High Resolution/ Accurate Mass Instrumentation is a plus.
• Prepare and manages inventory of buffers, reagents, semi-finished and finished goods.
• Provide solutions to more complex problems, identifies and initiates process improvements
• Perform data and report QC review within the department and may support the Study Director.
• Support validation of new methods that contribute to expansion of service/product line, equipment, and data management systems.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate:

• 5+ years of of direct/demonstrated experience with Liquid Chromatography- Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) in a contract research organization or industry laboratory in one or more of the following areas:
  • Bioanalytical Method Development for Small and/or Large Molecules
  • Drug Metabolism and Metabolite Identification w/ Structural Elucidation
  • Mass Spectrometry-Based Proteomics experimental design & execution
• Demonstrated experience with validation of bioanalytical methods in accordance with regulatory (FDA, ICH, OECD) guidelines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working in a Quality Management System
• Demonstrated proficiency in High-Throughput analytical method development for small molecules.
• Experience in leading and delivering results in R&D or innovation programs
• B.S. with 7 years of relevant experience
• M.S. with 5 years of relevant experience
• Ph.D. with 3 years of relevant experience
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Additional Information

The position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m., with overtime as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of St. Charles, MO are encouraged to apply.
