Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay Rate Max: $56 per hour

Scientist I — Influenza Virology

Industry: Pharmaceutical / Vaccine Manufacturing | Location: Swiftwater, PA | Type: W2 Contract (12-month) | Experience: 1+ Years

Position Summary

Sanofi's Swiftwater, Pennsylvania site is the largest vaccine manufacturing facility in the United States, and continues to expand its manufacturing capabilities for existing and pipeline vaccines and biopharmaceuticals. We are seeking a Research Associate to support small-scale experimental work within our Industrial Operations division, with a focus on influenza virus production, virology assays, and laboratory operations. This is a hands-on bench role well suited for a science-minded professional who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Laboratory Experimentation & Virus Work
  • Execute small-scale experiments involving eggs and influenza virus
  • Support and assist in the production of high-growing flu virus reassortants, flu reference antigen, and antisera
  • Analytical Testing
  • Perform hemagglutination testing, SDS-PAGE, chromatography, and PCR assays
  • Sample & Materials Management
  • Manage sample movement between labs, manufacturing buildings, and the Analytical Sciences department
  • Ship biological samples for external sequencing
  • Order, maintain, and track laboratory supplies and materials; coordinate outbound shipments as needed
  • Vendor & External Coordination
  • Collaborate with outside vendors as required to support project and operational needs
  • Documentation
  • Write internal development protocols and reports in support of assigned projects
Required Qualifications
  • Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in a science or biology-related field preferred
  • 1+ years of laboratory experience; academic lab experience acceptedPrior experience working with viruses is a plus
  • Technical Skills
  • Hands-on experience with standard virology and molecular biology techniques (hemagglutination, SDS-PAGE, chromatography, PCR)
  • Familiarity with biological sample handling, shipping, and chain-of-custody procedures
  • Ability to write clear and accurate laboratory protocols and technical reports
