Job summary

Pharmaron Exton, PA is seeking a Scientist I/II – HPLC Method Development to join our Bioanalytical Sciences team on-site in Exton, PA. The role focuses on developing, optimizing, troubleshooting, and validating chromatographic methods across diverse therapeutic molecules.

You will work across HPLC platforms and expand exposure to bioanalysis, DMPK, and MS applications in a dynamic CRO/CDMO setting, suitable for early-career analytical scientists.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Overview:

Join Pharmaron's Bioanalytical Sciences team in Exton, PA, and apply your HPLC method development expertise to challenging drug discovery and development programs.

As a Scientist I/II – HPLC Method Development, you will develop, optimize, troubleshoot, and validate chromatographic methods while supporting the analysis of diverse therapeutic molecules. You'll have the opportunity to work across HPLC and advanced analytical platforms while expanding your exposure to bioanalysis, DMPK, regulated studies, and mass spectrometry applications.

This opportunity is ideal for an early-career analytical scientist with hands-on HPLC method development experience who wants to deepen their expertise in chromatographic method development, complex separations, troubleshooting, and bioanalysis within a global CRO/CDMO environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, troubleshoot, and validate HPLC-based analytical and bioanalytical methods supporting drug discovery and development programs.
• Design and optimize chromatographic conditions, including column selection, mobile phases, gradients, flow rates, and other method parameters to achieve appropriate separation, resolution, sensitivity, and reproducibility.
• Troubleshoot chromatographic challenges related to peak shape, resolution, selectivity, sensitivity, carryover, retention, and method performance.
• Perform analytical and bioanalytical sample analysis using HPLC and other available analytical platforms.
• Design and execute scientifically sound experiments aligned with study requirements, client objectives, and internal quality standards.
• Process, analyze, interpret, and report chromatographic data while identifying and resolving technical challenges.
• Support method qualification and validation activities and ensure appropriate scientific documentation of experimental procedures and results.
• Review and execute study protocols and contribute to protocols, validation reports, technical summaries, study reports, and other scientific documentation.
• Support developmental and regulated laboratory activities in accordance with applicable procedures and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with scientists, project teams, management, Business Development, and clients to support successful project execution.
• Participate in scientific project reviews, technical discussions, troubleshooting activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Gain exposure to advanced bioanalytical and mass spectrometry applications as experience and project needs develop.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• 1–3+ years of relevant analytical or bioanalytical laboratory experience; position level will be determined based on experience and demonstrated technical capabilities.
• Hands‑on experience developing, optimizing, and/or troubleshooting HPLC/ LCMS methods.
• Strong understanding of chromatographic principles, including separation, selectivity, retention, resolution, and method optimization.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting chromatographic data and troubleshooting analytical challenges.
• Strong analytical thinking and scientific problem‑solving capabilities.
• Ability to accurately document and communicate experimental procedures, results, and conclusions.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative scientific environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience independently developing and validating HPLC methods.
• Experience with HPLC and/or UHPLC instrumentation and associated chromatographic software.
• Experience optimizing column chemistry, mobile‑phase composition, gradients, and other chromatographic parameters.
• Experience with additional analytical detection technologies and/or LC-MS applications.
• Hands‑on exposure to LC-MS/MS or high‑resolution mass spectrometry is a plus but not required.
• Experience working within a GLP or other regulated laboratory environment.
• Experience supporting DMPK, bioanalytical, or pharmaceutical development studies.
• Experience analyzing small molecules, peptides, oligonucleotides, PROTACs, biologics, or other complex therapeutic modalities.
• Experience authoring protocols, validation reports, technical summaries, or study reports.
• Previous CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry experience.
• Experience collaborating with clients or cross‑functional scientific teams.
