The Position

The development and integration of superconducting undulators (SCUs) in European XFEL is part of the facility development program. SUNDAE1 is a vertical liquid helium bath used to train SCU coils and to measure their magnetic field.

The main task for this position is to coordinate the operation SUNDAE1 in collaboration with other colleagues from the UNSYS group and DESY technical groups. This includes:

• Coordinate and perform measurements of superconducting coils at the SUNDAE1 facility in collaboration with colleagues from the UNSYS group and other DESY technical groups
• Maintain and upgrade the SUNDAE1 facility, including defining technical specifications for new components and coordinating technical discussions with vendors
• Maintain existing electrical schematics and develop new eplans required for measurement activities
• Prepare, review, and update risk assessments to ensure safe operation of the facility and measurement systems
