Job summary

The Chowdhury lab and Center for BRCA and Related Genes at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute are seeking applicants for a Scientist position. The applicant will develop and implement next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows to advance our understanding of genome instability in HR-deficient cancers and translate these findings into therapeutic concepts.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Molecular Biology or Genetics.
  • 2+ years of postdoctoral experience.
  • Hands-on experience with NGS technologies and genomics.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and supervise NGS projects, including QC, optimization, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
  • Provide expertise in widely used and customized NGS assays.
  • Collaborate with Center Directors and researchers; interact with collaborators.
  • Contribute to manuscripts and grant applications; present data at meetings.
  • Supervise technical assistants.

Job description

The Chowdhury lab and Center for BRCA and Related Genes at DFCI are seeking applicants for a Scientist position. The applicant will develop and implement next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows to advance our fundamental knowledge of genome instability in the context of HR-deficient cancers and translate these findings into novel therapeutic applications. Collaborations and projects involve direct interaction with academic and biopharma industry partners.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Execute and supervise NGS projects within the Center for BRCA and Related Genes, including quality controls, protocol optimization, troubleshooting, and data analysis and interpretation.
  • Provide expertise in widely used and customized NGS assays and technologies.
  • Collaborate with the Center Directors and other Research Scientists and interact with investigators and scientific and technical staff within the Center.
  • Interact with external/industry collaborators.
  • Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications.
  • Present data at scientific meetings as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Scientist will supervise technical assistants.

Qualifications

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Molecular Biology or Genetics, with a minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral experience.
  • Must have hands‑on experience in next‑generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and genomics, with a proven track record of publications in peer reviewed journals. A background in the field of genome stability and DNA repair is a strong plus.
  • Proven experience developing and optimizing NGS workflows.
  • Hands‑on experience in NGS data analysis and visualization, with expertise in bioinformatics tools such as R, Python, and command-line interfaces.
  • Hands‑on experience operating multiple different NGS instruments.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience in preparing manuscripts and grant applications, and presenting research findings at scientific meetings.
